House-made hummus with Fresh Vegetables
Hummus Recipe
Ingredients
Chickpeas: 240 grams (1 can or 1 cup dried chickpeas, soaked and cooked)
Tahini: 80 grams (1/3 cup)
Lemon Juice: 60 ml (4 tablespoons)
Garlic: 1-2 cloves, minced
Olive Oil: 60 ml (4 tablespoons)
Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
Cold Water: 80 ml (1/3 cup)
Optional Garnish: Paprika, fresh parsley, extra virgin olive oil
Method
Prepare the Chickpeas:
If using dried chickpeas, soak them overnight and cook until tender. If using canned chickpeas, drain and rinse them.
Blend the Ingredients:
In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil, and salt.
Blend until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, gradually add cold water until you reach the desired consistency.
Adjust Seasoning:
Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning as needed. You can add more salt, lemon juice, or garlic to suit your taste.
Serve:
Spoon the hummus into a serving bowl.
Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with paprika or fresh parsley for garnish.
Preparation Method for the Dish
Prepare the Vegetables:
Choose a variety of fresh vegetables such as carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and celery. Wash and cut them into strips.
Toast the Sourdough Baguette:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.
Assemble the Dish:
Serve the Hummus: Spoon the house-made hummus into a serving bowl.
Arrange the Vegetables: Place the fresh vegetables around the hummus bowl on the serving platter.
Add the Baguette Slices: Arrange the toasted sourdough baguette slices on the platter.
Garnish and Enjoy:
Optionally, drizzle a little olive oil over the hummus and sprinkle with paprika or fresh herbs for extra flavor and presentation.
Serve immediately and enjoy the combination of creamy hummus, fresh vegetables, and crunchy baguette slices.
