Malted Rye Bread with Smoked Salmon on Avocado with Caviar

Preparation Method

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:

    • Rye Bread: Use house-baked long fermented barley malt rye bread. Slice it into thick pieces.

    • Avocado: Use fresh farm avocados.

    • Smoked Salmon: Use house-made smoked salmon, prepared with orange zest, caraway, and coriander.

    • Red Caviar: Have red caviar ready for garnish.

    • Cucumber: Slice fresh cucumber thinly.

    • Herbs and Dill: Use fresh herbs and dill for garnish.

  2. Toast the Rye Bread:

    • Lightly toast the slices of rye bread until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.

  3. Prepare the Avocado:

    • Mash the Avocado: In a bowl, mash the fresh avocado until smooth.

    • Season: Season with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice to taste.

  4. Assemble the Dish:

    • Spread the Avocado: Generously spread the seasoned smashed avocado on the toasted rye bread.

    • Add the Smoked Salmon: Place slices of house-made smoked salmon on top of the avocado.

    • Top with Caviar: Add a small spoonful of red caviar on top of the smoked salmon.

    • Garnish with Cucumber and Herbs: Arrange thin slices of fresh cucumber and sprinkle with fresh herbs and dill.

  5. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Place the assembled rye bread on a serving plate.

    • Optionally, drizzle with a bit of olive oil or a sprinkle of sea salt for extra flavor.
